The name fall river is attributed to a waterfall situated on the stream connecting Lake Thomas and Miller Lake. The waterfall was demolished in the 1950’s as part of the construction of the Bicentennial Highway.

Fall River benefits from its central location, that is near to Halifax, Dartmouth and Bedford. Fall River has easy access to Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Highway 102, Highway 118 and the Bedford Industrial Park.

Fall River is home to the Laurie and Oakfield Provincial Parks. Fall River and the surrounding communities of Wellington, Waverley, Windsor Junction and Lakeview are home to many lakes including Lake Fletcher, Lake Thomas, Soldier Lake, Kinsac Lake, Miller Lake and Third Lake.
